Harbor View

The center of this compact house is a high, open room combining living, dining, and kitchen. Windows on both sides open to the views and the sea breezes, and dormers fill the space with light from above.

Orienting the house perpendicular to the slope allows for the separation of the property into a public, arrival side on the North and a private, garden side to the South, both with views of the fields.

Lantern House is a modern interpretation of the New England vernacular: taut, simple forms with pitched metal roofs and white-painted wood siding. The glassy, lantern-like entry, with its prow-shaped canopy, signals the open, expansive space within.
