The main cabin and its outbuildings embody the simple life, with exposed studs and rafters. The outbuildings have no electricity or running water. Living here is a pure summer experience, close to nature. Simple but whimsical decorative elements add to the delight.
Island off Connecticut Coast
This house draws on many sources, from the American Shingle Style to Japanese pavilions, to Frank Lloyd Wright, and unites them into something new. A Gothic entry arcade extends forty feet out from the house in a welcoming ceremonial gesture for the modest vacation house.

The apparent front door opens onto a covered arcade that takes you past a walled garden to the real front door. The parts of the house are grouped around this contained garden, while also looking out to the cove.
