Easthurst is a carefully restored 1840s twin home in East Boston, where historical character meets modern living. Initially conceived as a kitchen and deck addition, the project evolved into a full renovation when the architect became the homeowner. The restoration began with the exterior, including the reconstruction of the front entry porch, distinguished by a custom fan motif. Inside, the second floor was reconfigured to open up the living spaces, framing expansive views of the harbor and city beyond—heightened by a new Marvin corner window. The third-floor renovation expanded the dormer, reworked the bedroom layout, and introduced a second bath, making the most of the home’s compact footprint. Throughout, finely crafted details—hand-shaped railings, mantels, and cabinetry—reflect a hands-on approach to design, where 21st-century living is woven seamlessly into the fabric of a 19th-century home.
