By dividing the house into three structures, the design shapes a small courtyard. The windows are carefully aligned with the meridian to manage the south sun. Following a long held New England building tradition, the exterior is sided in locally-sourced Eastern white cedar shingles.

Exposed rafter tails and an oiled fir interior evoke the imagery and character of a rustic camp. Zig-zags and criss-crosses of wood are carried throughout the house as an ornamental theme.
